Field and desk property claims, from the inspection through settlement. Ian writes and reviews Xactimate estimates, checks the scope against the damage, and reconciles contractor figures with the loss. Daily claims and more complex files are both part of the work.

Disputed files, and files in or near litigation, are read closely: incomplete claim histories, differences between estimates, and questions of coverage and damages. The work can include pre-litigation review and mediation. HCCC does not provide legal advice, and no claim outcome is guaranteed.

Appraisal assignments are taken for a carrier or for a policyholder, one side at a time. The task is to evaluate scope and pricing, and to leave a record of how the conclusion was reached.

Contract field inspections and mortgage draw inspections, when an assigning party needs the property looked at and the findings written down.
Ian has worked property claims for more than 21 years, in the field and at a desk, beginning in 2005. That work includes inspections, Xactimate estimates, settlement, and contractor reconciliation. Catastrophe deployments have included hurricane work in the field, at a desk, and as a trainer and file reviewer.
He also works files that arrive disputed or incomplete: comparing estimates, sorting out what the claim history shows, and preparing a record that can be discussed in negotiation, appraisal, or mediation. Commercial and residential property losses, including larger losses, are part of that background. Wind, hail, winter weather, tornado, fire, and related property damage have all been on the desk.
